Hi,

now the trucks all MOT'd I thought I'd best sort out the leaking injector. I've done a search and they dont seem too bad but I wonder if theres any pitfalls ( like is it possible to drop the washer down into the bore etc..any handy hints appreciated.

cheers

if the copper washer/s dropped into the bores you would have a big problem, so would the people who make the engines. rest assured they dont, im not sure on 200//300 engines but on oldr ones there are 2 washers a flat 1 and a corrugated 1 and when you tighten the injector bolts the corrugated 1 commpreses and makes the seal.

Hi, re checked all the washers and they're fine, the noise seems to be coming from the rear/top of the engine..could it be exhaust manifold ?

more likely tappets if its a tappety noise ! Sorry, couldnt resist.Rocker cover off and make sure all the valve shaft caps are on,if theres one missing....find it!Its a straightforward job to do the valve clearances, its on here,in haynes, etc etc

okey doke, I've set the tappetts ( though I sort of knew it wasn't them ) but the noise is still there.. its a definate phit, phit, phit sound.. kind of like a tiny hole in the exhaust would sound like but seems to be coming from the top rear of the engine

hooray and hoo fecking rah... not the injectors the head gaskets gone.. just paid 435 to get it welded... My wife's going to go completely mad

does anyone know if theres anything higher that the head gasket that could be leaking.. missing bolt.. that sort of thing
