My 300 tdi r380 gearbox is pretty worn out 232k miles on it and I need a new clutch.

Just been offered a guaranteed 200 tdi box with a new clutch for £80.
Is it worthwhile changing to the older box?

Do I just need to fit the smaller spigot bush or do I have to machine one specially?

Any thoughts welcome as dont want to wast my money either.

In the Discovery both Tdi boxes are interchangeable. You do need to swap over handbrake mechanism, speedo sender and the mounts on the transfer box. No need for any machineing.

The older LT77 is not such a good box, but it does depend upon your circumstances :)
