My experience of V8s and water is the spark goes out. If you mean a V8 diesel they're out of my price range.Go for a V8, you'll only regret it later by not choosing one.

Me thinks you missed the 'd' in 2.7d V6...What makes you think the V6 won't go out too? I meant the Ford V8, Coyote I believe

That Ford engine would be no good. Peak torque is at 4500rpm, and i hate to imagine how much one would cost here in GB and then you'd have to feck about with transmission conversion.
The 2.7d V6 is already fitted to Land Rovers and you can pick up whole Jaguar S-Types with this engine for as little as £500
My wires are fine thank you. I have only mentioned the diesel V6 and when i did you said to use the V8 Ford engine. I said if it was a petrol engine, i wouldn't, because my experience of petrol V8s and water means 9 times out of 10 you drive in and get towed out. That engine may well bolt up to that gearbox. I have no experience of that box, but the torque charateristics may be great for a Mustang, but are wrong for a Landy. You need peak torque low down, not at 4500rpm.I think you’ve got your wires crossed entirely. In none of my comments did I mention the 2.7 TDV6 engine. There’s a reason why there is plenty about, it’s a horrible engine.
And the Coyote V8 would bolt straight upto the MT82 trans.

There have been a few. JE Engineering do or did offer it. I believe you have to modify the front cross member for clearance. Why is nobody fitting the 2.7d V6 in Defenders?
