Bought a new switch from Land Rover an was told they charge 4 hours labour to fit it,as they need to remove half the dashboard. It took 10 minutes, removed the centre air vent and managed to push the switch out,job done.

Well done that man, Land Rover probably know it takes 10 min's but they have to pay for their expensive buildings and staff. I remember Ford's used to list 2 1/2 hrs to do an early Fiesta clutch. We could do one in 22 mins.
I have just had to do this very job but not sure if the original post was a Sport or a Vogue. In the event anyone is interested I thought I would just quickly write it up as it is a simple job that took me (a complete novice with a screw driver) 10 minutes to complete without removing any dash facia or centre vents.
2010 3.6 TDV8 Vogue SE (LR322)
Tool requirements: narrow flat screwdriver
Time: 10 mins (or less)
Cost: £54.99 (incl shipping, but I am sure you could probably source a cheaper one)
Experience: I have zero experience
I sourced the replacement start/stop button via ebay yesterday, which I received this morning.
I studied the part carefully noting where the catches were, there are 3 clips that hold it in place
I carefully unclipped the bottom one first which is the easiest by far.
Then I did the right hand side clip, whilst keeping the pressure on the bottom to hold the clip out. It is more fiddly to get to this clip and you will need to feel your way to the clip referencing the position of the catch on the new part. You can see the tooling marks as I tried to find the clip.
Once the bottom and RHS clips are free the LHS one can be easily manipulated.
Simply unplug the cable and plug it into the new start button.
Test the ignition on, start and off before you push it back into the dash
Push the new start button back into place
Job done!
All in all a far simpler fix than I thought it would be and a heck of a lot cheaper and quicker than going to the dealer.
