thats how my conversion has been done then, i got 200tdi disco with defender inlet manifold upside down and defender exhaust manifold so turbo is up top so that could use original down pipe to fit exhaust... this setup sound ok to you bud? im no mechanic, im just summing up what bloke did at garage lol

Explain that again! Did you buy and source the engine yourself and if so, what vehicle did it come from? If your mechanic swapped the manifolds from a Defender engine onto a Discovery engine to make it fit, it is more than likely that he has used the actual Defender intake and exhaust manifolds which are totally different to the discovery manifolds. Which side of the intake manifold is your air intake pipe connected to? The front (facing radiator), or the back (facing bulkhead)? Do you have a picture?

Does it look like this?

thats what i said, got defender inlet and manifold with disco engine, was form a breaker so he used defender manifolds to avoid changing the down pipe? air inlet is at bulkhead end. this setup ok??

defender manifolds point the turbo up and the inlet down, disco's do it the other way

ha no it aint bud :D am i talking alien or what lol seems straight forward to me what im asking lol confused.com

looking at pic above at def engine looks like intake facing rad as has tape on it or am i looking at it wrong?

the 'inlet' faces the front on a 200tdi defender i think the 300tdi disco has the inlet facing backwards

cast steel cast ally?? its same as anyother setup just got air inlet facing bulkhead lol

i was addressing BoBs cut n shut comment......

the exhaust manifold is cast steel.... the inlet manifold is cast alloy needs either a really good gas welder or a tig welder
