hi everyone, i have an intermittent problem with my tdv8 sport, sometimes when i start the car from cold after it has been ticking over for a couple of minutes smoke appears from under the front of the car, it smells like un-burned diesel, i have traced it to what looks like a breather pipe pointing downwards from the engine, the car is starting,running and driving fine with no issues and no lights on the dash, any idea's ?

 

thought it was mine!

just guessing but egr problems auto elec by my works has had a few tdv8's in he said egr's are ****

Sounds like the fuel burning heater to me ! Lol

The breather pipe is the exhaust from the heater
And they do tend to smell a bit when they fire up

common fault and on d3s aswell ,and as hippo said it might have a aux heating

sounds right hippo i changed a set of tyres on a d3 couple of weeks ago and smoke poured out the front smelt of diesel aswell tbh it looked bad for a newish l/r

Phew......so i guess i maybe wont have to sell the kids, put her in doors on the game and re mortgage the house to pay a scary repair bill then eh ?

you could still do tht to get the money for the next repair bil

Without that heater kicking in on the cold days it would take at least 20 mins to get a hot cab ! Lol

Deffo fuel burning heater my TDV8 had same wierd i must say when they is smoke coming from under front of car ha ha but all was good lol......
