Hello All,

Just spoke to Stratstone about getting my having a 24k service on my 2006 Freelander TD4 and i nearly died laughing. They wanted close to £400 for what is essentially an Oil and Filter Change.

As i work for a main stealer, I have asked a mechanic to do the labour on the cheap for me but to keep the warranty in place, obviously I need to use the genuine parts.

Back on the phone to Stratstone and they want £100 + vat for the parts. How can they justify this!

Any way my question is does anyone know where i can purchase a genuine 24k service kit from, hopefully a bit cheaper than Stratstone.

Have a look on ebay or search google for dealers, Saw this one on ebay..

Seen em on flea bay. . .but mines er 2002 but keep yer eye's peeled , or failing that get um on tinternet from 4x4 independants

Compared to Perrys at Luton £400 sounds cheap !! Still someone has to pay for the fancy showroom and the expensive suits of the employees.
If the car is under warranty make sure you use LR parts. I have bought all mine from e-bay.

Due to block exemption rules your mechanic can use parts of an appropriate quality when servicing and not invalidate your warranty.

Although manufacturers service schedules and approved check list (autodata) must be adhered to.

Home servicing is not approved though.

as long as the mechanic your using is vat registered, or the stamp he uses belongs to a vat registered garage, you should be okay. vat registration is the key. Seems to be if he turns over enough to be vat registered, he must be doing enough business to know what he's doing. (or she lets not forget, only ever met one female mechanic and she was the bollocks at freelanders, but lost track of her)

I think that correct, if you have a warrenty it need to be serviced within the documentation or it will invalidate it you never know when you might need a get a new manifold of CHG replacement (not speeking from experience )
