Problem started last week. Ignition comes on, but first turn of key, nothing, second or third it would fire up.
Yesterday, Ignition comes on but won't crank. Cleaned every battery terminal, starter terminal and engine earth. Took starter out, it cranks on the bench. Put it all back together, same no crank. No voltage on trigger wire on starter but with Ignition on, it will start and run if I bridge the trigger wire to the live 12v supply.
Currently have a suspension inactive on display that I can't clear and fault reader says heater plug relay (p0380) has a short.
Any idea why I can't start it with key?

Sounds like yet another one with a dodgy ignition switch.

Would it be a terrible idea to replace the bad part of the switch with one of these?

You may find the ignition switch controls more than one circuit 🤔
If your goïng to remove it to replace it, you've nothing to lose trying to clean the contacts 👍
