Hi everyone, new to lz, I am after some of your professional advice please. I'm looking at swoping my vivaro van for a 2000 td5 xs with only 55000 miles one owner history and receipts. But can't decide. Should I leave the saftey of my 2010 vivaro sportive with 41000 miles for unknown future of a td5 owner. Any thoughts from you guys greatly received in this time of uncertainty.

Hi,

TD5 is an engine, you looking at the Discovery or Defender?
 
I've yet to look at it they say there were 2 tiny holes they have dealt and have wax oiled it but on that milage should I be expecting things to start going wrong or is that just unknown
 
As soon as I read the two holes and waxoyl treatment, I am slightly worried, that something has been covered up for selling purposes.
I still have a 51 plate Disco and had it treated several years ago and it seems to be holding u well.
As said I would get under it and check it very closely.

Other problems that are very fixable are SLS (air suspension) ACE (Active Cornering Enhancement) and at the age of yours may need a little TLC if fitted and not maintained.
However there is tons of info on here and most things are very DIY fixable.

Might be worth taking someone with you to look over it and also if possible borrow a dedicated fault code reader just in case any of the warning lights have been disabled. You dont say what your location is.
 
Thanks. I'm in bridport Dorset. I mean it looks spotless , driver seat is unworn carpets as new, but yeah I'll take a mate along to have a look.
 
If you do get it,drop sump and loctite the oil pump drive bolt for peace of mind-if it comes undone,bye bye engine

do you know the torque setting for the oil pump bolt please?,i am dropping the sump and checking the bolt before changing the oil/filters,thanks.
 
No I dont I am afraid,I ordred new bolt and put loctite on it as well and did it up hammer tight.
The old bolt had started to come undone-caught it in time thank god
 
Can i ask why you want to swop motors
There seems to be plenty of life left in your vivaro
 
Want to go back to a 4x4 had a trooper, l200 and a shogun then got a van for work, it's great for all my tools etc but living in Dorset I want something more multi functional and British to go with my triumph
