hi guys,
i was feeling smug earlier as i had no disco issues..... but....
my oil light flickers on-off occasionally, i have checked engine oil level and its good.
my question is, does this warning light relate to any other oils ( axel or gearbox)?

No, it doesnt.... BE AWARE this is not something to play with... go to a garage and get the oil pressure checked ASAP. It must be between 1,5 and 3 Bar. The oil pressure switch gives signal to the lamp when the pressure is below 0,5 bar.... let's hope that this switch or it's wiring is your problem.... if u have a low oil pressure u might get your engine f**ked. If yours is an early Disco 2 take into acount the oil pump bolt common issue ... (http://www.web-rover.co.uk/page.php3?p=td5kb/oilpumpbolt ).

thanks sierrafery, the light just flickers a bit and then is gone for quite a while. so hopefully wire or switch... will get it checked...... where abouts would i fit the gauge to check it....not actually "I" but the man with the gauge.?

another edit here.
looking at where the oil pressure switch is, i would think the gauge would screw in to where i would take the pressure switch out of, would i be right?

The pressure gauge goes where you remove the pressure switch from

There is a a known fault on the early TD5's (like yours) with the bolt on the oil pump drive sprocket coming loose due to lack of threadlock.

i am getting the oil pressure checked on tuesday. am i right in thinking that if the oil pressure is normal it is going to be a fault with pressure swich or wire but if it is low it is more likely to be this bolt or oil pump itself?

That's correct. You always have to assume the worst case scenario as it doesn't take long to seize an engine with little or no oil pressure. Avoid starting it until the tests have been completed.

oil pressure is fine, suspect pressure switch it looks like.
