Evening all!
I killed the injector pump on my 2.5NA - I think some crap got into it and it wouldn't put any fuel out at all, fuel in was fine, but nothing to the injectors. Thing is, I really want to change the engine for a 200tdi when I've got the cash, so the replacement was a cheap ebay recon unit that was actually tuned for a Sherpa van with the same engine.

It's the same Lucas CAV DPS pump as the original. The seller promised me it would work, but the firing order for the Sherpa engine was different, so to retard the sprocket by 90 degrees and all would be ok.
The engine fires now, but kicks out a load of white smoke and has no power at all as if its too retarded. *sniggers* Fine tuning the pump by turning it on the 3 mounting bolts does nothing to help.

Everything was running just fine until the pump died, so I doubt its anything other than the pump.

Has anyone here come across this before? I read that the 200tdi has a 'smoke screw', would mine have something similar or is that just a turbo thing?

sherpa has same firing order but pump is timed different as ,front timing case is different and so pump sits different , your pump is timed wrong

It was a recon unit that'd sat on this guys shelf for years. clean as new and clearly never been used.
Are you saying that the pump itself is tuned wrongly, or is it just me not setting it up right?!

Cheers for the quick reply btw:)

pumps timed differently ,both engines use same belt pulley but have different marks lr dot sherpa f , pumps dont stand well on a shelf after a recon

I see... the pump was a little stiff when i got it, but once it was filled with diesel, it was fine.
I always wondered what the F was for. Do you reckon if i timed it from the F mark, it'd be ok?
I'll try anything to get it home from my mates - got quoted £177 to stick it on the back of a truck for the 30 mile trip today!

it would be possible to time it its just finding its correct position, never tried so cant say where ,but timing slot should line up

Thats what I'm trying to find out - I'm sure the pump is ok, but I just need to find the right timing mark!

Thanks so much for your input, I'll try the F mark next week - got nothing to loose really.
