My number one injector has developed a nasty leak. The entire well is full of diesel and there are air bubbles coming from the base so I'm guessing it needs the m24 copper washer replacing. Is it worth changing the o ring at the same time? If so I haven't got a clue how to strip the injector!

While everything's off I've decided to clean the intake and intercooler. I understand 1998 dse's didn't have egr's? If mine hasnt is there anyway of stopping the crud coming up the pipe into the intercooler??

If the well is full of diesel, most likely it's the leak off pipe not the injector.
You will always get some deposits in the intercooler from the turbo. Should be cleaned from time to time. Make sure your air filter is good.

Did check thereturn pipes and couldn't see a leak. Was hoping it was going to be that simple. The bubbles make me think it's coming from the bottom. Will change the pipes anyway

Fuel is not coming from the bottom it is from the spill pipe. Small bubbles are of little significance but if they bother you try loosening injector and re torquing it a couple of times. If that does not cure it, new washer needed or anneal the old one. They work harden over the years. All your other injectors will most likely be leaking slightly it's just that's the only one that is noticeable because of the diesel leak. DO NOT strip the injector, it will end in tears.

Well. Have just removed number one injector. Was very oily. Think I may have a leak from the filler cap as there was a little trail from it. Have cleaned up the thread and bore and put it back in. Am away now for a couple of days and my new manifold gaskets should arrive soon too. There was a copper washer at the base of the thread on the injector but it didn't look like it wanted to move!
