Hi there looking at servicing the beast on the weekend can anyone recommend a good oil please and should I flush it at the same time??

Had to do a service on a 2.5 a few weeks back. The oil was absolutely filthy. I changed the filter and filled it with new oil, ran it up to temperature and it still came out a horrible black. Changed the oil & filter again and told the owner to run it for about 1000 miles and bring it back for another change....haven't heard from him since.
I should have flushed it with flushing oil I suppose.
I have never seen such an 'orrible mess on any of the petrol V8's that I have done.

I second Irish (not for the first time), if you have not had it landy garage serviced the last time or don't know who did it, then flush as a precaution.

Worth it

Use a decent semi synthetic or a full synthetic, expensive, but cheaper than a new engine.

morris do one semisynthetic, flush out oil cooler too, just be careful of the pipes the threads tend to strip, very frustrating, and flush out intercooler too,the advice i had was to flush out the oil cooler every 4 years.
