I understand there will be a variety of contributing factors (ie services, use of vehicle etc) but just as a very basic guide on a vehicle thats been generally well looked after and in good physical condition,

whats people opinion on a 57 reg 2.4 puma engine with 164,000 on the clock. what mileage would you generally expect them to bush before the dramas start,

""would most steer clear at this mileage or expect it to have plenty of life left in it???""

thanks adam

As with any Landy, forget about the bodywork and concentrate on the chassis and running gear.

A well looked after engine and gearbox should be just about 'run in' at 164k on the clock.

If it has been well used and occasionally hammered, there should be at least another 200k left in it.

AS with everything, you pays your money and you takes your chance!

Well my tdci has done 24000 miles in 6 years and has gone into limp mode only once - rear diff still whines like hell though - and the doors never stay open on their stays. Where as my 300tdi has done 50000 miles in 4 years and most of it not on tarmac and never broken down. I know which I prefer.

Best bet for longevity of the engine is to look at the Mileage the 2.4tdci transits do that'll give you a good idea of the engine.
