Went up to parkwood 4x4 today to get a bit of refresher training and to see how my landy would cope. I have to say it's a hell of a lot more capable than I thought. Rebecca at parkwood did the guiding, was really impressed with the tuition.

The landys temp never went above 70, only drank about a gallon an hour, and coped with whatever we threw at it (red route, blue route and a bit of the black routes... Didn't do the deep water challenges as I haven't waterproofed the v8 yet)

Thought it was too good to be true though, got home and wondered why my paint was peeling on the wing.....oh what's the dripping from the brake reservoir??? Bo**ocks.... New master cylinder needed now

At least it went now and not on a green lane in the middle of nowhere

water proofing the v8 will be very difficult, one of the herts lot did a pretty good job though

Master cylinder changed today, brake fluid changed and bled through.

Had a look at waterproofing it...... I managed to scavenge some large flexible pipe from work that fits perfect over su carbs,

Problem 1. I had to remove the k&n's to fit pipe on, so where do i put the Air filters now???

Problem 2. need to find a large t piece to join them so I have 1 snorkel coming out or do I use 1 snorkel for each carb

Solution 1. Don't bother with snorkels as I won't be purposefully wading through 3ft of water

Hmmmm, What to do??

you need to be more concerned about waterproofing the igntion system than the intakes really. it'll cut out before it gets deep enough to swallow water.

need to remove dizzy and seal up the holes underneath it, and then fit a breather pipe to the dizzy cap with a sealed fitting. cable tie all your (new good quality) plug leads to your plugs and to your dizzy cap towers, andalso cable tie round the coil tower. smear or spray a nice thick (white lithium grease i use) coating over the action end of the coil to prevent arcing.

as for your induction, two snorkels look cool but is overkill. you ideally need to find a standard carb induction system which comes with a y piece, or find something at a plumbing shop etc.

a snorkel will draw in nice cool airt aswell so you'll perhaps get better midrange torque, cos open cone filters on top of the engine suffer from plenty of heat soak.
