Hi
I'm currently trying to help a French friend with a 1993 2.5L RR. He has a pretty violent wheel wobble on rough surfaces at motorway speeds. The steering damper has been replaced and he now tells me that his left front wheel has rock in it when jacked up and shaken. In addition, he has a small oil leak adjacent to the road wheel. Once the car is dis assembled, it would obviously be worth replacing other wear parts encountered in the area. Can anyone tell me what parts it would be sensible to have at hand prior to starting the job as we can't just pop down the road and buy parts. A recommended (UK) supplier would be helpful also

Track rod ends would be the first thing I would be looking at,lr parts centre give a good overseas service and there prices are good

For wheel shake do a search for "death wobble" loads on this. Usual suspects are wheel bearings, swivel pre-load/bearings, steering damper, steering ball joints.

Oil leak by a wheel most likely to be a perished oil/grease seal on the inside of the hub.

You say your friend can "rock" the front left wheel. this could be either wheel bearing or swivel bearing depending on how he can rock the wheel (up/down or side to side?)

By the sounds of it I think I would be looking to swap out all the front wheel bearings and maybe at the same time do swivels. Would also think about checking rear wheel bearings and prop UJ's

And drag link.
Island 4 x 4 are reasonably priced and will post to France, I use them from time to time. Others are Famous 4, Rimmer Bros (expensive) Frog Island, others can be found on Google, plus Landypoint, Le Bourg, 16410 Sers ( France )
