Hi All

I have a 3.5 v8 1991 Discovery and my headlights have stopped working....no dip or main beam

The sidelights work and if you pull back the switch as you would to flash your lights at someone, the lights work.

I have replaced the switch/stalk for a new one which worked for about 1 week and now no lights again.

There are 2 plugs on the stalk and the smaller plug has 1 connection which seems to be a bit melted........I saw another similar post.

There is a ribbed relay under the dash which I have also changed......think it's called a dip dim control unit. Photo attached....I hope.

I can't drive the thing in the dark and it's driving me nuts.

I have been reading some of the posts which refer to a wiring diagram in the FAQ but I have searched and searched and searched and can't find it.

Can someone help and keep it simple for me to find any information please?

Many thanks

Happened to me on my 1993 200Tdi.
The connector on mine had melted and was also very brittle. I replaced the connector and a bit of the loom with one from a scrappy and just soldered all the wires. I've had no problem since.

i had that problem on my 91 range rover...it wasnt getting power to the switch at the relay...i bridged the connection at the relay to test it...then ran my own switch to it...now i use the headlight switch for the instrement and marker lights and the new switch for the head lights...

If all else fails david m
my daughter (who drives my disco 1 most the time)
used a womens fix of jamming a matchbox in behind flash beam switch.

bloody idea works well!

must get round to see what the "real" problem is........

Thanks for your replies everyone.

I will check it out ASAP and update but if anyone has any other ideas I would love to hear them.

Cheers
