Anyone know how I can find the troulbe code chart for the I6 4.0 liter and
how to access the codes?

The 89 used the Rennix computer and does not store/report codes.
There is a tool you can attach, but it's pretty pricey. The check
engine (or whatever it says) on the 87-89 I6 is probably from the
emissions timer module - it turns the light on at something like 80K
and the solution is to just unplug it. Far as I can see, that's the
only visual indicator on the thing.

The light is from the timer that goes off at 82,500 miles. It can be
reset, so you don't have to disconnect it.

I saw the directions for that at one time but just unpligging it was
simpler - and permanent <g>.
