You could probably buy yourself a shiny new socket set with what you would be charged for labour, to do a REALLY easy job, even I can do it, ;);):p:p:p:D:D

Quite a quantum leap from what oil to put in a gearbox to I need a new gearbox

What seems to be the problem sir?

its second gear,it goes in and doesnt jump out but makes a grinding sound, also theres a constant whinning noise when you drive could do with someone having a drive in it as this might be normal,i havent checked transfer box yet,but if it is the gearbox i know a man that can

syncro mesh wprn and worn final drive in transfer possible.

gear box can be rebuilt easy enough.just heavy and time consuming.

try get a second hand box and wack it in so you can rebuild your original at leisure.

they have a weak syncro anyway so useing ATF helps.

Just learn how to put it in gear properly, nice and gently no ramming it in and you will be fine for quite a while longer, I reckon.

yes,2nd gear needs to be slid in gently with low revs.

land rover lobbed in the gearbox syncro and used atf to do the best of a bad job.

personally i would fit an old 4-speed rangie box.:D
