true but ive actually had singles & sold them on, usually they come with a brand new unused tyre fitted aswell for some reason, they are only 16" & the tyre is not narrower,ive prob had a dozen over the years so not very common tbh but they are about most came out of 38s ive broke/sold years ago but tended to lurk in early 4.0 se models 95 m regs ,infact my first ex motorway police 1995 p38 had 1 in the wheel well

Sorry, it's not an emergency spare designed for short term running, the rim & tyre size is the same as the alloy and it has the same tyre fitted as the alloys. Emergency spares are usually smaller section and the tyres are rated for 50mph max.All well and good but that is an emergency spare. A 16" x 7" rim fitted with a 235 x 70 x 16 tyre. Not designed for permanent running. If fitted at the time of an MOT the vehicle would fail.
Just been out and checked, the standard LR alloys have the dimension 7J 16 cast into a rib, the steel wheel is stamped 7J 16 so they are the same dimensions.
It's all a bit odd, the later owners manual gives the 16" alloy rims as 8J, but the 96MY rims I have are 7J. Maybe the earlier handbook gives the 7J rim size?
The rims are actually fitted with 245 x 70 tyres. No idea what the correct size would be.
