Hi,
I've just bought a 110 hard top van and was wondering about converting it into a crew cab/twin cab thingie to have a pick up with some secure storage space.
I'm working away at the mo so i can't just go out with a tape measure and see how things fit so that's where you lot come in ( hopefully)
My 1st thought was just to stick a 90 hard top on it but i've tried to photoshop this and the hard top looks too long. is it possible to cut the top and sides down by say 150mm, to what looks like where station waggon doors finish, just at the front of the wheel arch?
Would it be possible to extend a truck cab?
This is probably not going to work but I'm just thinking at the mo.
Long way from home with loads of time on my hands and no landy to play with.
Any other thoughts or advice gratefully recieved
Thanks in advance
Rick

Pm Alane he has done this.

Theres a thread on here somewhere, Search Alane's posts

Anything is possible with a landy It depends how good you are with a welder and a pair of tinsnips. If ya want a twincab then you really need a the 5door defender. otherwise your more or less stuck with a hardtop van, or a truckcab pickup

I looked into changing my old 300tdi 110 van into a csw. It is a lot of work involved. The most expensive parts are the rear doors and the B pillars. I decided against it in the end due to both lack of time and a place to work on it.

thanks for the replies.
Looked at that one of Alane's and that's what i want BUT it doesn't look possible to convert a hard top into that. I suppose the only way to go is to get a station wagon body and go from there.
Thanks again

You need remove the complete roof, sides and rear tub. Change the floor where the second row of seats go and fit the new supports. Then you need to fit B pillars and the second row doors. Once you have done that you can decide wether you want a csw or crewcab. It is a lot of work and getting the parts second hand is a struggle. You either need to buy a complete 110csw and swap bodies or go the whole hog and buy the parts new. It will cost you around £1500 for the parts. Like I said I decided against it. Your best bet is to sell your current landy and either buy a crewcab or csw and convert it.
