Hi everyone.

I have bought this landy on sunday, and on tuesday a went of the road into the hedge and some trees.
Insurance repair centre quoted 8500 pounds for repairs. This seems excessive to me and i was wondering wether there is someone that may have an idea wether it is too much or not thanks.

You got any pictures with out the Hedge?, Also, Can you see if it had twisted the chassis?

Chassis is definitly OK the only damage is that you can see from the side.
The only damage underside seems to be the steering damper and the rod that goes from weel to weel right by the steering damper.

At the end of the day it wasnt head on cras into the tree, only hit the tree with left hand weel arch so that is damaged including underneath the top weel arch, left door needs replacing, belk hed twisted at the pont where it meets with windscreen and the door (left hand side only)

I havent got any pictures without the hedge yet, but i can try and get some over the weekend maybe monday.

I think it needs 1500 - 2000 pounds worth of parts + labour.

Am I right in thinking that as it is a 2000 year TD5 the insurance company have written it off and you are debating buying it back to repair it yourself?

So you had it two days then broke it? That's got to be a record even for some of the guys on here! £8500 seems really steep to fix it, but then I guess it depends what their hourly labour rate is. The parts wouldn't cost a lot, so if you do it yourself I'd have thought a couple of thousand would be the maximum you'd have to spend!

2000 110 TD5 hardtop!!!!

You can pick em up for around £3000-£4000

I would let it go and get another one. Make sure the new one has a winch though.:p :p :p

Hi Ratty,

Well if u know of one between 3-4k i will be happy to see it. Dont meen to be rude, but cost of these will be 4500-5000 i believe.

One way or the other it seem realy dificult to buy it of the insurers as i would have to buy it from salvage company they will sell it to.

I have been looking everywhere before i found this one, and i was happy to buy it. I was planning on putting all of the offroad gadgets on it but now i have to find new truck first.

I will appreciate some links maybe to see wether i can find it for a good price.

Cheers.

Look at my profile piccy.

£3500:D :D :D

I reckon, you could fix it for the sake of a new wing, OR pull it and fill it.

Get some pictures of it without the hedges.

I reckon it could be done for under £500 unless something has been damaged under the wing (not a lot on that side, maybe the water bottle).

I would not involve the insurance and get loads of photos on here and we will help you out.

Its a scam, they take your vehicle, fix it up and sell it on. Make all the money back.

You can buy it back from your insurers before they sell it on, nevermind what they tell you, you have the right to the salvage.

as for repares you should be able to get it done yourself for under a grand easyley

i went to help a mate today whos transit tipper suffered a collapsed off side ball joint. i phoned another mate who does police and insurance recoveries, repairs, MOT,s ect ect and we was chattin about recovery.
i asked him if he recovered any land rovers and if they had to be disposed of could they be bought. what he told me made me sick. he said he had recovered 6 land rover discoveries in the two months before xmas along with a whole range of vans, sprinters transits vw ect also vw cars audi, bmw, volvo, merc ect ect.
every one has to be drained of fluids, batteries and tyres then they are taken to a registered depot where they are put into a machine that fragments them into ten pence sized peices, and not even a wheel nut can be taken off the vehicle. he was telling me about a merc he recovered, one owner from new all the extras, stainless exhaust alloys ect and after the fluid drain it went to be destroyed, he said he was gutted to see such a car have to be destroyed in this way. 6 discos have left this world going through this shredder, i felt sick.
it seems a total waste to me but thats the rules if he wants to keep his insurance and police contracts. gutting aint it ?

Yep. Thats true. We gotta turn em into cubes down this way

bloody hell i couldnt do that job ! when you know the value of the vehicles and have to watch them get blitzed just to tick the boxes and fill the forms in it must really be a sickener. i know this guy was at some of the motors he has taken in.
