my uncle and mw are re painting his 101 GS this summer and i was wondering what is the green that they was painted in?

Depends what era you are wanting to depict.

I'm sure its a 1974 and was deffo green

I was really meaning the era you wanted to represent rather than the date of manufacture as there are basically three possibilities,
BSC381C No.224 Deep bronze green
BSC381C No.298 Olive drab
BSC381C No.285 NATO Green
If you are wanting to represent 1974 that rules out NATO Green. It would have been delivered in high gloss DBG, but in a front line unit in BAOR it would be likely to have then acquired matt OD with disruptive black.
