Hi guys,

I just wondered...... did landrover sort the K series engine out, so it didnt eat head gaskets? its just that the 1.8 petrol models seem so much cheaper to buy, I was looking at 05 models.

I got offered some shares in Enron, really cheap...i'm sure they've sorted their problems out by now.

Andy,
To answer your questions, they have tried a number of things which will reduce the chance of it happening but it's not cured. If you're considering one, check that it has the MLS gasket fitted, new dowels, remote thermostat and there's no mayonnaising (white foam in the oil). If you're feeling lucky then have a punt. I have and it's been OK so far but I am also expecting HGF any minute. It can be a good way to get a cheap car because people are scared of them. Just be warned that even if you don't get HGF, you WILL get other issues and some may be serious.

And the strengthened oil rail as well together with a low coolant warning light - some 2005 petrol models have this warning light though:)
