The landy recently failed MOT for a fuel leak, which I traced to the coiled part of the fuel line to/from the fuel filter that sits under the expansion tank. It had over the years jently rubed a hole in itself against the inner wing:(. Cut this section out and put new pipe in to bypass leak. Not sure if I should leave it like this. It works, but it aint pretty.

Apparently LR no longer do the £14 replacement part (ESR3118):mad:. It's been replaced with a £200 part (WJP000220):eek:.

Have found some aftermarket copies for about £20. Anyone used one? Or just gone with some custom fule lines?

ouch! what a rip off! sod genuine, id buy britpart. its only a pipe and you can buy 10 for the price of one genuine.. i highly doubt it will wear through 10 more times int he time you own the car..
 
My father in law had this problem in a motor of his. He replaced the pipe, but before fitting he put a section of thicker pipe over the rubbing section as a shield.

As a disclaimer, I think it may have been a turbo vacuum pipe in a Passat - may not apply in this case.
 
How bad can a metal tube be? Only some Britpart bits are crap. I certainly kno which I would be buying. Look for another manufacturer?

I tend to agree... its only critical parts like bearings, clutch bits, shocks and springs I would avoid.... but £20 v £200.... if it fails you stop and thats it.:)

Agree aswel, it's not going to Ruin other bits and cost you a load more on other bits or be dangerous if it goes again.
 
Its only plastic pipe so go down your local motor factors and ask for plastic air piping comes in 15 meter reels iirc.
Or just use rubber fuel hose on the original barb hose tails after you have removed the plastic pipe.
Rubber hose measured as inside diameter id.
Plastic hose maeasured as outside diameter od.

A section of clear pipe in the fuel line is very handy to check that no air is getting in.
