the basic versions of the 800 used two 2.0 L 16-valve developments of British Leyland's stalwart O-Series engine, dubbed M-Series.

mpi is a 2.0l engine as found in rover 800 series, apart from headgasket o ring failure causing oil leak=not bad,but as a lump to haul disco round were crap

The 'O' was a really easy engine to get a lot more out of, the factory exhaust manifolds smothered it, you could grind loads out, add twin carbs and it was like a whole new car.

vitesse turbo m series (distributor engine) went like **** off a stick, honda pgm1 box bailed before engine 200hp easy.
unfortunately the fuel consumption in mpi guise ****e and lacked v8 power

its a t series not k , and theyre **** , i've got one ! my advice is to steer well clear , if you wanted to put a new lump in you would have to change the gearbox too as theres a r380 version in there only rated for the t series engine , won't take the torque from a doozil lump

Worth 250 quid. Take all the useful bits off and scrap the chassis/shell/engine. You'd be quids in.

I'd agree - I've got my donor Disco on Fleabay at the mo and got offered 200 quid for it in first couple of days. Just the major bits I added up in parts came to over 500 quid - just wish I had the time and space to strip it myself
