nice one is it worth all the effort? much quiter is it and how much mph do you get
try taking the main gearbox out complete with transfer box-****ing heavy.

Was not trying to make it sound hard, was just making sure he know what he was going to be doing.
BTW is is f*ckin hard if your doing it on a 20 degree sideways slope, in the middle of a muddy path running next to a mountain hut in (i stand corrected from the first post) the Lake District, 2 miles from the nearest road, when the temp is -12 and you don't have 3 air beds etc, and you have just got the first box you could find on a Sunday with 350 miles to drive to get home![]()

You can mess about with chain hoists till the cows come home the easiest way I have found bar ramps and a gearbox hoist is to do as above.
ok, so
will a discovery trans box from a TDi200 go on my defender ?... i've already put the engine in. have gearbox spare and thinkin this will be a nice job in the summer.
also, is the gearbox the same aprt from bell houseing ?, may be a good spare one day
