Not a stupid question when its bloody freezing, you have your car on axle stands waiting for a part then they send you the wrong side !!!
Some places quote left and right from inside car and others from outside looking at front!!
Just making point that it would be simpler if they quoted either near and off or passenger and drivers etc !!!!

It's industry standard to quote left and right as sat in drivers seat. Anyone that quotes from outside looking back at the vehicle is a dick.....

You have an odd way of looking at things vic.
if you cross the channel in you own motor 'its' nearside remains unchanged it's just not next to the curb when you drive over there.
nearside is the left in the UK. In the extremely unlikely event of ordering parts for LHD car here in the UK then you would obviously be more careful with terminology.
