the grooves are designed to prevent the build up of hot gasses during braking, and also de-glaze the pads.....

but in a landy you are NEVER gonna work the brakes hard enuff to make these features work, and even if you did you wouldnt notice the discs are the 'wrong way round'. i had oversize Brembo discs on 1 of my old heavily tuned cars (400bhp) and from experience i can tell you that the brakes work and feel the same no matter which way you put the discs on, you will bottle it LONG before the grooves in your brake discs become important

Thanks for the info.
The reason I bought them was that they, with the Mintex pads, were only £8 more and it put me over the £50 limit to qualify for free delivery .

so with the delivery at about £3 that was a total bargain then.. only cost you an extra £3 for mud catcher holes pointing the wrong way on your discs.. brilliant

FWIW they do work and have reduced fade on my 200tdi although I still have to eliminate it completly, I use the Disco in competitions (mainly river bed races here in Spain), they rarely see mud so that is not an issue but on the odd occasion they have the mud dries very quickly and turns to dust which escapes under it's own steam (no pun intended).

The manufacturers were very specific about the fact that these were 'handed' discs, the issue is the slots run into one another as the brakes are applied, when fitted the wrong way around some brake judder can (and will) become evident, can you not just pull the calipers and swap the hubs complete side to side?
