my 2000 td5 windscreen has numurous chips in it from its 9 year life and when it comes to replacing is it worth the extra for the heated element one?
I see the windscreen wireing is installed below the windsreen in the engine bay, will i need anything else besides the dashboard switch?

Thankyou,
Paul

A relay or two as the heating element is in two parts and you may have to tell your body management system that it's fitted, via Testbook or similar and that is it.
Is it worth it well it stops you having to scrap ice from the windscreen, and for me that is only two or three times a year.

YES they are worth it!!!, and as stated the BCU (body control unit) will need to told that one is fitted for it to work.

Thanks for the info.
it might be worth it, as my disco is out in the open all year round and frost in the Fens can be quite harsh.

If you warm up the screen in winter BEFORE operating your wipers, they won't be frozen, so you won't be ripping the rubbers to shreds !!!

A heated windscreen is usefull but it's only used for a few minutes and thats it, unlike a heated rear screen thats used a lot more so is very usefull. If you have used a car without a HRW then you will know what I mean.
