I have a 1999 freelander 1, 2ltr di and was wondering if anyone had fitted or tried to fit a larger engine? If so which engine, from what, and what was the approximate cost?

Maddy keeps mentioning the Rover 220 turbo engine which whilst not exactly larger is a lot more powerful & can supposedly be fitted without serious modification. I've yet to see a Freelander with one but apparently it's a popular swap amongst the Rover boys whose cars use the same engine range.

I've actually been looking at a 2.5lt V6 from a later freelander model but i'm not sure what else i'd need to modify. I'd assume the gearbox would also have to come from the V6 model too?

Your obviously not too clued up on the Freelander then. Time to do an indepth search of the forum methinks.
