Parently, if yer new the resistance of a sensor(wot it should be) then
yer could test yer ones on ya car!

Maybe it will tell ya if there on there way out? like im thinking, say
the proper reading is 7, and you found it to be 4, would that sensor be
on its way out?

I duno, what makes a sensor pack-up?

And finally, for what it's worth Greenie if it were mine i'd try the crank sensor because I think your grey smoke may indicate incorrect injection timing.
