So since changing the maf there are no fault codes is that right? or haven't you rescanned...

It hasnt been rescanned since the new MAF no!

Does this fault have to be cleared from the ECM, before i can atempt

NO. . . .just dissconect maf to see if it werks

don't know for sure, i'm old school, before on board diagnostics.
check with your diagnostic guy and assuming it's not costing the earth i think i'd have it rescanned anyway in the hope it will give us something new to focus on.

I read an old thread earlier (can't find it again) something about inlet hoses collapsing internally causing a blockage/restriction.

only other way forward would be if someone near to you would allow you to try a few bits from their freelander until you find the fault.
