Ive damaged my rear bumper whilst off road on my 300tdi and its doing my head in being damaged. There's a big dent in it and both end caps are missing.

Im thinking my options are:

1. Remove it completely and fit 200 rear lights so I have indicators.
2. Remove it and fit a heavy duty one
3. Fit a new standard bumper and endcaps

What would you do?

I 'think' the cheapest option would be the first, but... what chance have I got of causing damage to the rear of my disco without a bumper (offroad)? Ive seen a couple of discos without rear bumpers but they very high. Mines got a 2" lift.

Any ideas appreciated.

Think I'd get the old bumper off and try to hammer the dent/bend out of it. If not, try for a cheap/nasty straight one from ebay to keep it road-worthy whilst looking for a more suitable proper solution.

Possibly easy enough to make up a couple of aluminium bracket to hold the lights on enough to make it roadworthy without mounting a bumper at all.

Lot depends if this an decent onroader or if it's an offroader ... ;)

Ive mostly been off roading in it so far... see below.

I'm just trying to keep it looking tidy thats all...
So mainly offroading, driving to pay and play days and taking the dogs out.

Then I'd do what I did ... IYSWIM

ebay ... ;)

To stop yourself getting grief of the ol' bill remember to cover any pointy/sticky out or sharp bits, I don't believe it's illegal to not have a bumper so long as there are no protrusions that can cause injury.

Personally if I had the dosh I'd buy a heavy duty bumper as they look the dogs bollox.
