Hi
Can anyone tell me what stops the side windows going down to far ??
My passinger window has started to go down to far and the metal bit with teeth goes past the motor cog and therefor it will not wind back up again.
If i take the motor of and press the switch it will run in one direction and then stop and if i press the switch in the other direction it will go the other way and then also stop.
Out of curiosity i tried to stop the window going down to far with a block of wood (in case thats how it stops) and it tried to breake the bit of wood.
Any ideas please ???

Hi, the BCU must stop the motor so if the motor doesnt stop when you block it's shaft the problem is the BCU but make sure there's not some wear in the mechanism and the motor's shaft doesnt feel the blockage hard enough to increase the draw(see attachment) ... if as you say "the metal bit with teeth goes past the motor cog" IMO there's the wear cos the motor should stop before that happens

It appears that the motor has been detached from the regulator at some time, then refitting with the regulator in the wrong position… the glass wasn’t fully closed.

Something I came across many years a go when I had to replace a regulator on my disco, the info may have been in a workshop manual on fitting the regulator, but it was a long time ago so it may just be logical when you look at the issue.
