Sorry I must have misunderstood when you question the motherboard relays as a possible issue.

So if you powered it up and it clicks on/off, is it the relay that clicks ? if so then the relay works??? but something is not holding it in.

I have basic electronics knowledge. Usually learn by blowing fings up .

Well they do say that in the country of the blind the one-eyed man is king!
My problem is that we leave these things on when we aren't here to stop the pipes freezing up, basically, and clothes etc going mouldy, and paint etc in tins going off. So I cannot risk anything blowing up!

It could well be the relay that clicks, it is a bit awkward powering it up with the little board available to view. I'd have to put up pics to show how the housing comes apart, but yes, I think, with a couple of extension wires and some choc-blocks, I could get to the point of being able to verify that. And why a dodgy capapcitor would stop the relay holding itself in I have no idea.

I have to go out and do some shopping as W is unwell again and she never goes out on her own now, but once back I may put some pics up so peeps understand.
But yes there is a relay inside the stat. Presumably driven by a low power signal from the actual temp sensor. There is no bimetallic element in it, oh no, that would be too unsophistcated!!!:mad::mad:

Afternoon folks :).

Wam here again (not the duo thats with an H) but we did have a couple of days of drizzle rain/sun. Not enough to top up the pool which could do with 100mm:oops:. When we have water we use it to do what we need so the pool takes a back seat.

Have been putting in electric sockets today and somebody has now decided that they "really should be black" against the colour:vb-groan2:. Still they can be changed later, got to pluck up the courage to go in the loft sweat box tomorrow and connect to the mains.

Had water today so finished early to get a shower:), they say a day on/off but often its 2 days off and 4-6hrs on.

Beer and a sence of humour/adventure makes life bearable:vb-drink:.

Having a coffee atm ive got the mini on axle stands to repair the exhaust flexi its off but the centre flange is missing
so im just going to weld it back on for now as the new flexi comes with the centre section now. I can get a repair section
but I need to wait on it & it needs to be on the road today so buzz buzz then.
Is this a Mini or a Bini @kevstar ?

So went and did the shopping. After Leclerc I went into Bricomarché, not expecting much luck in the soldering dept.
But came out with a better soldering iron, some solder and.....
The last desoldering pump on the display!
Never thought they did one!!
So I can at least start taking bits off afore my capacitor tester arrives which won't be before 6 days or so.
We are getting a bit too close to the day when we may have to go back and that isn't help by W having just found out that her consultant wants to see her a few days before we are due to get back. Not her fault at all but this business has really flipped up our time here this year. Still, she is in less pain than she was last year.
