After a long layoff, I was finally able to move forward with my disco projects. I installed a large-volume intercooler, changed the MAF, the turbo, and the wastegate valve. It pulls well, but I still find it struggles to rev up. It blows a lot, and it feels like it's going full throttle from 2,500 rpm. I have trouble getting past 3,000 rpm, yet when I watch some videos, I see disco TD5 exceeding 4,000 rpm... I don't know if this is the norm; I don't know any other TD5 disco owners.

I was able to make a nanocom recording of a revving up on the highway.

If anyone has time to take a look and tell me if everything is okay with:

- RPM
- Coolant temperature
- Turbo boost pressure
- Cylinders
- Accelerator pedal

And is it normal for me to have an EGR reading even though I've disabled it?

Thanks for your contribution :)

Not being able to exceed 3000rpm is commonly fuel related i.e. a failing fuel pump or faulty regulator. Have you tested the fuel pressure ?

Nothing obviously wrong in those readings except that the coolant temp goes a bit higher than normal, if it's blowing black smoke i doubt it's underfuelled but there can be a leak along the air inlet/turbo circuit somewhere, some important things to clarify:
- is it Eu2 or Eu3 engine?
- manual or auto?
- what dimension tyres you have?

Hello, I know my disco is heating up a bit and I don't know why yet... But it will be a problem that I will solve later. For the moment, it's a td5 eu2 manual gearbox. It runs on 255/65/16 tires. It doesn't smoke black and there are no leaks along the intake, the hoses and clamps are new. I add that the egr has been removed and I still have values on nanocom.

so what that "blows a lot" means?
When the engine revs up, you can hear a lot of blowing in the cabin, which gives the impression that the disco is running at full speed quickly, I don't know if it's the intake or the exhaust. I forgot to mention that the manifold is also new. The noise may be coming from the exhaust pipe
just be aware that the hotter it runs the less power it has.... check the wastegate to not be stuck open, how many threads yo have left from the locknut on the wastegate rod?
the turbo is new, and there are 13 threads left on the wastegate, I think I can turn it a little but looking at the turbo pressure data on the nanocom, that doesn't seem to be the problem.
I might need to look at the diesel pressure.

The problem is that like you can see at position 78 when you get 591 air flow the boost is only 1.28 which is low, at that sucction the boost should be very close to 1.4 just below the overboost limit, if you hear some hissing sound there might be a boost leak somewhere, i doubt that with low fuel pressure there could be so heavy sucction .... tighten the wastegate rod to 10 threads see what happens
