Yesterday there was a squeak coming from the car and today as I’m driving the steering felt funny when turning then broke down at next junction , car stopped working and steering feels dead.

Turns over but won’t start.

Recently had new clutch in May, then last month had new cam cover and some other bits as was leaking lots of oil.

Waiting for RAC to tow to garage xx

Have you checked the oil level?

Experience tells me some mechanics have trouble reading a dip stick! (or don't bother, just bung in what they think is right and maybe make mistakes doing that!)

Sounds like it could be a drive/fan/aux belt issue though. Hope it hasn't come off and done some more serious damage.

RAC attended he said my pulley came off the alternator that I did see he showed me , he said he also think the cambelt has came off ?!? Surely am I really this unlucky x

Don't know about the F2 TD4, but my L Series F1 is known for throwing the drive/fan/aux belt (usually because of the tensioner rather than the alternator) which then gets wrapped around the main pulley and fouls the cambelt - sayonara engine usually.

Hope this hasn't happened to yours.

It has been known for a failed AUX belt to become tangled on the crank pulley, whip about and damage the crank sensor wiring, pull the fuel lines, and even get through the cam belt cover, causing the timing belt to jump. However the latter issue is rare, but it's very possible the crank sensor wiring has got damaged.
