Hi everyone got my first land rover discovery 1 300tdi auto 2 weeks ago and the immobiliser has started playing up, literally got up for work in the morning went to unlock it using the fob and it wouldn't work but the hazard lights seemed to flash and after a while of pressing the buttons it finally unlock got in it and put the key in the ignition went to turn it over and the immobiliser symbol came up and wouldn't turn on for ages. The next day walked up to it put the key straight in and no symbol and started started away, the next day same thing didn't work, I've replaced the fob battery still no difference, was thinking getting a new key cut and a new fob and see if that sovles the problem, any ideas if that doesnt works

If the hazards flash to indicate locking and unlocking and when then there’s nothing wrong with the fob, and as the vehicle is un locked and now been remobilised indicated by the red LED being out there’s no need for the key until you start the engine.

There’s a timed delay once the engine is remobilised and therefore after that delay will immobilise the engine again so press the unlock button to again remobilise. All this info and more is in the owners handbook.

If your issue is just doors not unlocked then usual its a mechanical with the mechanism within the door. Could be as simple as a a splash of oil or very slight adjustment of the locking actuator. Door cards will have to be removed to investigate.

With key replacement.? If it turns in the three doors and locks/unlocks and is ok with the ignition switch, whats the issue… but its good to have a spare😊

Just try using the fob to lock and unlock, there shouldn’t be any need to also use the key. The fob also remobilise the engine therefore no LED, the the system is Passive so the immobilisation is automatic indicated by the LED flashing

Sorry I ment when it finally unlocks and is put the key in the ignition the system comes up on the dashboard and it wont let me turn it on. Also what's the best car diagnostics tool to use on the car,

I got told there is a receiver unit in the headling rear of the sunroof? My leaks so that could of possibly got wet🤷 the car finally unlocks and i put the key in the ignition the immobiliser symbol comes up on the dashboard and wont let me turn it on

Ok my information was based your thread title D1 immobiliser, and theres nothing to turn on other than the ignition switch to start the engine. It’s the same for a D2 also.

It’s the D2 that has known issues with the receiver above the headlining near the rear sunroof. Some times as simple a cleaning of the plug/socket and the earth connection to receive the best signal. It that doesn’t the unit is replaced.
