Its got red in it so I topped it off with ATF 🤔
I’d be flushing it PDQ, several times, with the correct PS fluid, and keeping my fingers crossed.
Also change the reservoir bottle when you do it - it has a small filter inside.

… I s’pose it ‘could’ be just very old green fluid that has turned a brownish colour over the years. Either way, get it switched asap.

The fluid is clean and definitely red
It was like that when I bought it and I presume for thousands of mile before that.
What damage is being done and what fluid should I be using please

Just took some fluid from deep in the resevoir

The incorrect (red) fluid can damage the PS system. The pump is particularly fussy I believe.
@Nodge68 will know more about the workings…

Do a search about it here and you will find @Nodge68 has mentioned before that Ravenol ss meets specs and is not green 🤔.
But if its suspect. flush with what is good, and you then know.

Buying the origional LR spec pas fluid for a FL2 ain't easy. Fuchs titan chf 202 is the same fing. Its what I use. The red you have in needs removed or you'll get problems. Change the reservour at the same time. Its got a fixed filter in the bottom of it. I would flush it with the correct stuff until it runs clean green. Drive it a bit to get it washed round inside. Then flush another liter through it.

Found some green stuff local but not chf202, will that do ?

Needs to meet the correct spec in my opinion. Have a look in the owners manual for the spec. LR still sell it but only in a box of 12x 1L bottles. So most main dealers won't buy it in unless you buy the box. Mine wouldn't when I wanted some.

Peeps get quite worried about the pas on FL2's. Early ones had weld splatter break lose and cause problems. Can block the filter which puts pressure on the pump. Also racks have falled. Tis worth the time and money to do what I said above. Wrong spec fluid has caused a lot of problems historically. I had to get the titan stuff online as its not available local to me.

Recon this should be ok, what do ya think ?

I'm pleased with the motor so far as is the GF, she pinches it at every opportunity, fink it makes her feel a bit more important than being seen in her Honda Jazz :p

This stuff is CHF202
And I'll need around 2 litres to do the job and buying 5Ltr is cheaper than 2Ltr
Seeing as I'm probably keeping the vehicle for a while might as well invest :)

Looking at the pic the manufacturer hasn't put chf202 on the product where it lists the spec. Sellers of said product say it's for use where chf202 is required. They also use list many more spec's that the manufacturer doesn't. That always makes me nervous. Personally I wouldn't take the risk. I used the following:
