Yes that's the current set up and it does sound mean.
I do want to hear a fully straight piped one in person but I don't think I'd live with it. Il be using it everyday.
I prefer tune over loudness.
That's the thing, if it's too loud it gets tiresome after a while
I'm going to try and find a cat back exhaust with some performance silencers rather than a full straight pipe.
I don't have a wife, so that's one less to worry about.

Yeah ive got two small free flow silencers instead of the cats and then the centre silncer. Outside the car its still loud and in my opinion the tone is almost spot on. But once you close the windows and cruising on the highway with some music you have to listen carefully to hear the exhuast.
Unbolt your exhuast just after the Y pipe and have a listen, that will probably be roughly what a straight pipe will sound like. Ive done this and its very loud, to the point where i want to stick my fingers in me ears if you just tap the throttle while standing outside the car.

Years ago i had an rrc.. that had a middle box off a Renault sport. That sounded AWESOME

Don't come to France, they are installing sound monitors with ANPR to trap noisy vehicles.

When you go off-roading it’s common to squish the rear box(es) after a sharp descent, so I had a single straight pipe only at the back for years.
When it falled oft I toyed with the idea of having a straight through system 
decided in end that even with only 6 cylinders it needed the middle box and a rear single.
Worked out fairly cheap too compared to twin exhausts

That's all good but what about the vehicles that are too loud when they left the factory? I'm thinking about the ducati panigale which often fails static noise tests at track testing
When I rebuilt mine I took it down and up the hill with just the manifolds on. By christ...

Illegal in France to use on the road, I suspect it's power output will also make it illegal.
I thought they rolled back on the 100bhp restriction ages ago? Honestly that was a daft one when just about every 600cc bike is over that.
With the Ducati it's something to do with the exhaust being low to the ground.. a static/stationary noise test with come out over 100db as built by the factory

You are right rolled back with some exceptions in 2016. It was a nonsense anyway, my FJR was 150 bhp restricted to 100 bhp by a stop on the throttle which mysteriously disappeared at the first service.
