Hi to everyone. 2006 Freelander L314 TD4 No communication to ECU but vehicle starts and drives, no lights on dash. any recommendations for companies who repair ECU's Tried Connecting with Autel to it had to input VIN manually because it couldn't auto sense. No turbo, excessive fuelling roughly getting 10 mpg!!! hence wanting to read ECU.

Have you tested continuity from pin 7 of the diagnostic socket to the correct pin on the ECU?

Also that K line goes all over the car, to many different ECUs. If it's shorted to earth somewhere in the loom then you could have the same problems. Does the Autel talk to any of the other ECUs in the car?

I haven't checked continuity on pin 7 as yet. I was able to alter the idle revs to 820 or thereabouts but didn't go more into it (not my tool, borrowed from garage).

sending off the ECU for repair seems an expensive hassle without testing the K line wire first.

That is what I was thinking lot of cash if it doesn't solve the problem. I've been jumping around different sources of info and they all seem to say that the ECU/ECM is quite robust and there is like only 4 wires on the ODB??? EODB??? Diag port. Which plug does pin 7 goto ????

Most generic OBD readers should talk to the engine ECU. If there's issues with the k-line, maybe other wires on the ECU have issues such as sensor wires that might impact the fuel consumption ?

If the Autel connected did you check sensor data ?

Pin 7 of the OBD connector should go to pin C0603-3 of the TD4 engine ECU. I'm pretty sure it will be a pink wire.

That assumes LR use same colour on diagrams & wires !!

Having stitched half of year 2003 V6 auto loom into a year 2005 1.8 K series, yes they do. The wiring diagrams were pretty much faultless.
