I think there is a fitting or cog or something that goes into the transfer box isn't there? It would have been on your old one if you had the OD unit fitted.I am about to fit a reconditioned gearbox and transfer box to my Series 3 but I am told that I cannot just slot the overdrive into the new unit and something has to be done before it can be fitted (not just a gasket). Can anyone enlighten me as to what this is please?
If your local to me Iām happy to have a drive out and help/advice?

Hi, I have a S3 box that was reputedly fine, but had had an overdrive fitted and may well have not been run since that was done. Now I have it driving, it jumps out of second on overrun, so I was interested to read your post. Any idea why the overdrive would be a suspect in causing the jumping out of second ? What was your outcome? Thanks Gun.
The company I bought the new box from have been very helpful. They think the overdrive is so old its messed up second gear - it jumps out in second under engine braking. I'm taking it back to them so they can have a look at it and possible rebuild. We'll see!
Cheers
