hi people, i urgently need a digram of the ht lead set up on a gems p38. have looked on rave and on here and cant find one. need it tonight if poss. thanks

OK , Who took them off and did'nt note the firing order!!!!

me lol. was doing it one by one, but had to mess about swapping cos i had a lead 2 short. now im in the s**t.! its pinkin when revved but idles ok

4.6 V8

cylinder numbers
Left bank 1-3-5-7
Right bank 2-4-6-8

No 1 Cylinder location...........pulley end of left bank (if you are sitting in the car its the left bank)

Firing Order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

Ignition coils up to 99MY
coil 1 feeds cylinders 1 and 6
coil 2 feeds cylinders 5 and 8
coil 3 feeds cylinders 4 and 7
coil 4 feeds cylinders 2 and 3

Apparently the positions for the leads in the coils is actually stamped into the bracket that the coils are bolted to. This is the order (starting from the LHS when viewed from the front of the car.

2 - 3 - 4 - 7 - 8 - 5 - 6 - 1

Note: no. 2 is on the RHS when viewed from inside the car.

@MrGorsky Isn't that a Thor with the HT coils inline ? GEMS is Picture 4 above.

The GEMS is all in a row like my picture…. at least mine is!!!

I’m about to change my plug leads and I was searching for the lengths of each lead (so I can make it dead neat and proper like) and came across this post, and that picture (on RR.net) so I thought I’d add it incase someone is looking in the future!

I still haven’t found the length of each lead though, so I’ll just have to make my best fist of it.

Just so I could get them in the right order with distance from coil to plug. It’s no biggie, just got the MoT tomorrow so I want to be ready!
