Disco's are very similar so take a really good look, (then go buy a mig!

Haha fair enough, I will have a good look and a stab with the welderer. at any rate the mot is till next year, and i have free use of mig tig mma oxy/acet equip at college (Motorsport engineering college) So DIY isn't really a problem!

well good luck to that guy. the chasiss was rotten!!!! i was poking the rear bk arch and put my hand through it, was completely shot, back rear passenger seatbelt mount had rotted out and had come away from the chasis leaving a hole where you could see the tarmac. i said to jim lets check under boot carpet, and guess what....... more and more serious rust. also there was a very loud clunk and bumping sensation when changing into second gear. we decided to walk from this one. just got back now, took us 5 hours lol. atleast it was good experience for jim looking at landys, now he knows what bits too look at.

Yeah man, I think from the sound of it there was about an 1/8 turn slack in that propshaft. and the rust was horrible, but only on that one arch and in the boot, the rest was fine. Engine bay looked pretty tidy too. Surface rust I can handle, but an 8 inch diam hole in the arch is a bit OTT lol.

it werent just the one arch jim, i poked the left side rear arch and that was completely rotten too. forgot to add, low range was having none of it either. i know sometimes they are a little stiff but this was ridiculous

Oh yeah. To be fair to the guy he had no clue about cars or landies, and if that person brought it for spares they will be well in i should think, all the component parts seemed in good nick.

like i said to jim, if you knew more bout landies and had owned them for couple of years, that would have been a perfect donor car or if your good at bodywork repairs and sorting some niggling problems it would have been good. not what you really want though as you havent owned one before etc. the right one will turn up soon. ill always come round and give you help if you need it again

i know of a nice n reg identical to mine. es with all the leather and elecs. needs cylinder head gasket doin an water pump, has winch bumper and snorkel etc he wants 900 but its in liverpool
