Can anyone tell me? I think I read in a landy mag that when they were developing the td5 engine they ran it on Kerosene. As this has much less lubrication than diesel , it was fine as the US militery use the td5 as they can then run them on aviation fuel. Can't fine the artical now . Anyone good on TD5 history

I read the same article and felt that Land Rover would have done this test to see how long it lasts and not how well it runs. I would rather use good quality bio diesel cos' at least thats only going to be O rings leaking at the worst.

I used to run an L200 jap pick up on kerosene mixed with Millers diesel additive (for lubrication) and never had problems and I did this for a few years! A little slower to start but ran fine and less smoke. Dodgy if you get caught on the road though and if you are going to cut fuel corners just go down the red diesel route and be done with it.

Thanks, I was begining to think I was the only one that read magazines.
Don't suppose you remember the copy do you? I agree with you that it was done as a wear test but trust the yanks to exploit it. Rumour has it that TD5 's don't like bio diesel . Has anyone had any trouble or experiences with it???
