Am I right in thinking that you must make sure the Seat Belts should be stopped from feeding back when removing the seats?

Removing the seats does not affect the retracting part of the seat belt at all.
BUT, the seat frame holds the seat belt catch which has the explosive anti-submarining seat belt retraction charge within it.

Disconnect the car battery for an hour before unplugging the seat belt charge with a plug under the seat.
Also, if you have heated seats these will also be plugged in.
Then it is a bit of trim and 4 torx bolts for the front seats.

The above is for front seats. Rear seat has no charge fitted to seat belt catches.

Thanks for the info. I"m trying to do the reat seats. I have a T40 TORX and I have a Socket Set but beside a screwdriver which wont even budge the Torx screws but none of my sockets fit. What size socket do I need to turn the TORX which is bloody tight

I have a (cheap) set of Torx sockets and got the seats out easy as.

Sorry mate, no flights from the UK so I"ll probably have to travel overland by Freelander so I reckon I"ll need more than a cuppa! But before I set off can you tell me what size TORX you used and what did you use to undo the screws? I"ve got a set of Torx bits and I"ve got a reasonable metric Socket set but none of them fir 6mm too small 7mm too big.

Forget/dunno what size I used. Was the front seats to, presume the back are the same.

Thinking back, I may have used a bit from my screwdriver set and a monkey wrench on the screwdriver - but I really forget now.

All I can remember is that on the naughty words scale of jobs done, it doesn't register very high.

Getting the seat covers off/on - now that was a lot higher on the scale.

I fitted a LR replacement seat squab cover. The bull rings are a nightmare to get tight and closed. That has to be one of the hardest F1 jobs I have done, but haven't taken side off the auto box yet. Hope it's not like taking the back panel off a watch where all the bits fall out, a real watch I mean, not a digital one!!! Lots of photos and care me thinks.
