Sent you a message LynallWhere in Maidstone? I can bring my ugga dugga home?
Ps I mean roughly, dont advertise your address to the wolrd.
I reckon I’ll make one too. Thanks.A flange lock bar is a very useful tool when undoing these and t box nuts.
I made my own , as it can also be used to torque it back up.
Cheers
Phew.
Does the input shaft always waggle about like that without the flange on?
Thanks for those. Most helpful. I think I may have an Ashcroft rear axle looking at some more pictures. It’s not a castle nut on the pinion. That metal shield is the mud shield, there are 2 types - an external type and the one you have pictured which is internal, they usually stay attached to the flange though. it should just pull out
have a look at page 16 here on my thread

How do I determine what the axle is?
Its probably just a later defender axle. Earlier ones were castle nuts and later ones nyloc nuts instead, disco ones had a bolt instead I think. Doesn’t matter what fixing it has, the seal replacement is the same principle
Is it a Salisbury rear diff?
Cheers
dunno, need a photo to confirm, maybe although I don’t know about the flanges on them, something is vaguely in my head that they are different but I can’t quite remember
Good to know. Is that. Good thing or a bad thing?? Lolyeah that’s a Salisbury diff
