They are just bolted to the front/rear of the step as a closer to the mud flap. They are just rubber no metal in them
Cheap steps probably wont include the mud flaps or closers so you will need to look around to get the nice line.

Interesting,£255 posted and includes the rubber wangers too. The homemade SS ones look interesting too. I'll have to see if any of the rubbery bits are salvageable before I think of making some, if not I'll have to get the £255 ones. The beautiful lines shall not be compromised if I can help it.

Fetching the P38 this Saturday and on inspection last Sunday, the side steps were rotten. What would be a nice replacement aftermarket type ?as I assume OE would not be available and pricey even if they were.
Get rid of them. They just get hooked up going off-road. Or get Terrafirma rock-sliders.
