Please forgive me for the terminology. I was changing my front axle oil today and saw on the near side of the axle, what looks like a missing bracket on something that should to do with the steering. Should something be there or is this how it should be? It does seem to look like a sheared bracket. Thanks in advance

Looks like a steering protection bar has been chopped off. An after market item and not part of the steering system.
 
Thanks. I'm slowly starting to go through everything and taking off stuff not needed.
No bother. Actually, I think whatever it was, was bolted through the power steering box hole for LHD models? Not the jate ring hole :rolleyes:

that’s how the landrover standard steering protection bar is bolted on. I can take a photo of mine later this week
